She looked in the mirror

Si3Nov2016Triptych

What do you see when you look in the mirror? How do you feel when you face your own reflection? Are there emotions that bubble up to the surface when you peer into your own eyes?

These are the concepts we’re investigating this month at She is Three. As the November days pass, we hope you’ll look in the mirror and try turning the camera on yourselves. It might not be easy, but it will be an opportunity to learn and grow. We gently invite you to share your self-portraits in our community pool on Instagram using the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #shelookedinthemirror.  Doing so is optional.  Whether you choose to participate on Instagram or not, we hope our experiments in self-portraiture inspire you, encourage you, and remind you to see yourselves with kindness.

We’ll be back here on the Si3 blog to share our quotes and the stories behind our photos on the 14th, 21st, and 28th of November. Until then, here is a sneak peek from the three of us:

She is wild

si3oct2016triptychwildwebsite

In what way(s) are you wild? You might be wild about/for/like something or someone. Or maybe it’s not a question of how, but of when you are wild. Perhaps you don’t feel wild at all, but you’d like to. Now is the perfect time. The three of us invite you to play with the concept of being wild this month. Let the shifting weather patterns of October inspire you. Make the most of the Halloween season by donning a wild costume.  There are so many ways to interpret this month’s prompt.  Your wildness might look subdued or it might look stormy.  Be natural.  Be passionate.  Be silly.  Be free.  Be who you are. Be who you want to be. There are no wrong answers here. Just show us your takes on being wild.

Please join us by posting your self-portraits on Instagram using the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #sheiswild this month. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.  As always, we’ll back here on the 14th, 21st, and 28th to share our quotes and the stories behind our photos. In the meantime, here is a little video we made just for you!

She acknowledged

si3triptychsept2016web

There is so much to acknowledge on any given day. We have emotions, experiences, needs, and responsibilities that call for our attention constantly. It can be hard to acknowledge everything going on around us and within us. There are times when it’s easier to turn a blind eye or bury our heads in the sand, but that’s not what we aim to do here at She is Three. So we’re stepping out and acknowledging what is coming up in our days, our hours, even our minutes.

We invite you to come forward and acknowledge what is going on in your world this month. It doesn’t have to be neat and tidy. It does have to be you, however, just as you are right now. The truth is beautiful, and that’s what we want to see. We want you to see it in yourselves, too.

Please join us on Instagram by tagging your self-portraits #sheisthreedotcom #sheacknowledged (and feel free to post as often as you like)!

Do stop by here on the 14th, 21st, and 28th to read the quotes and stories behind our photos. For now, here’s a little peek into our process this month!

She is ready

Si3Aug2016TriptychWebsite

Are you ready?!  August is already underway and we’re moving into a new phase of the year.  The summer is starting to wind down and students will be heading back to school in a matter of weeks.  We all seem to be getting ready for something this month, whether it is school-related or not.  What kind of change are you ready for?  What are you ready to do?  What action are you ready to take?  We invite you to use our August prompt as a launching pad as you think about where you are heading this month.  Try using self-portraiture to answer these questions visually.  Don’t forget to use the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #sheisready so we can find you on Instagram! We love seeing you and featuring you there, too!

We will share the quotes and the written stories behind our photos here on the blog on the 14th, 21st, and 28th of this month.  Do come back then to get the full scoop!  In the meantime, here is a little video of each of us sharing some information from the locations where we shot our self-portraits.

When she noticed

IMG_5781.JPG

Summer officially begins this month, and our days are busier than ever. At the beginning of this year, we chose the prompt “When she noticed…” for June. We didn’t have any preconceived notions then or now. When it came time to take our self-portraits, we simply showed up. We took those moments in front of the camera to check in with ourselves. We each noticed something different; something that we needed.

Have you noticed anything new or different in your life this month? What was the effect of noticing? How can you express those sentiments via self-portraiture? We three invite you to give it a try. We’d love to see your images added to our community pool by using the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #whenshenoticed when you post your self-portraits on Instagram. At the same time, we understand if that doesn’t feel right for you. Either way, we hope you’ll show up for yourselves and notice what is calling you.

Do come back here on the 14th, 21st, and 28th of June to read the stories behind our photos. For now, here’s a little sneak peek:

Does she walk her talk

Si3May2016Website

During the month of May, we’re asking ourselves a pivotal question: “Does she walk her talk?”  What exactly does that mean?  It’s up to you.  We invite you to spend some time sitting with this prompt and evaluating your way of life right now.  Do you practice what you preach, so to speak?  How can you portray that story in a self-portrait?  As always, we encourage you to use this prompt as a springboard.  Let it take you where you wherever you need to go…and remember to bring your camera with you.

We’ll be back here on the blog sharing our stories behind the photos on the 14th, 21st, and 28th, respectively.  Come see us here and follow us on Instagram {@sheisthree} as well!  Don’t forget to use the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #doesshewalkhertalk when posting on Instagram so we can find each other.  Until then, here’s a video for you in which we three discuss this month’s prompt:

Is she aware of…

Si3April2016Web

In this busy world we need to be aware of so many things at any given moment. Our minds focus on schedules and duties and deadlines. We tend to pay attention to matters that require our immediate attention, thereby overlooking some of life’s deeper messages. And so this month, we are examining our own awareness.  We are looking again.  We are noticing subtleties as well as the seemingly obvious.

Come along with us throughout April as we work with the prompt “Is she aware of…?”  Visit us here for our quotes and the stories behind our photos on the 14th, 21st, and 28th of the month.  Post your quotes and your self-portraits on Instagram using the hashtags #sheisthreedotcom #issheawareof so we can find each other.  In the meantime, here’s a video from us to you…

What if she uncovered

Si3Mar2016Web

As we inch our way toward spring in the Northern Hemisphere, many of us are seeing the last of the snow melt.  The clouds are beginning to clear on multiple levels.  We’re starting to catch a glimpse of what lies underneath.  This month, we’re wondering the same for ourselves, and for you, too.  “What if she uncovered” is our prompt for March, and we invite you to make use of it in any way you feel called.  By all means, join us by posting your #whatifsheuncovered self-portraits for #sheisthreedotcom on Instagram.  It’s always wonderful to witness you as you peel back the layers.

We’ll be back with our quotes and stories on the 14th, 21st, and 28th.  For now, we have this little video for you!

Did she forget

Si3Feb2016Web

It’s all too easy to forget the essentials, isn’t it?  We get swept up in the whirlwind of life.  We stumble here and there.  We get distracted.  We worry.  This month, let’s ask ourselves some questions.  Let’s remember what we’ve forgotten.  Let’s reconnect to our true essence.  Let’s be gentle.  Let’s witness ourselves and one another.

Join the three of us on Instagram (@sheisthree) throughout February by tagging your self-portraits #sheisthreedotcom #didsheforget.  We’ll be looking for you in our community pool.  Thank you for showing up.  We’ll be here on the Si3 blog sharing our quotes and the stories behind our photos on the 14th, 21st, and 28th.   For now, here’s a little sneak peek video…

She claimed her power

Si3Dec15Website

As the calendar year comes to a close, we are looking within ourselves: assessing what we learned and gained, as well as what we missed, released, or lost during the last twelve months. This can be a very challenging process; one capable of revealing insights that will guide you into the New Year. Perhaps you gave your power away. Perhaps it was taken from you somehow. Maybe it was there all along and you just didn’t know how to access it. We invite you to join us this month, using self-portraiture to claim (or reclaim) your power.

We’ll be back as always on the 14th, 21st, and 28th to share our quotes and the stories behind our photos. In the meantime, we invite you to step into our community by adding your #sheisthreedotcom #sheclaimedherpower self-portraits to our Instagram pool! (Find us @sheisthree)

Happy holidays!  Here’s a little video from us to you!
