She allowed ~ Deb

she allowed...
“She allowed herself to step into the space of her whole being, exposing both rusty edges and shiny bits.” ~Deb

I have been accused of living my life thru rose-colored glasses, just like Pollyanna…
“…living life with unduly cheerful, optimistic, or favorable view of things.”

In fact, I have been ridiculed and insulted by some, saying that I do not live in a realistic world.

So what?
Is that really a bad thing?
I actually find it to be in my favor to adopt this optimistic way of life.

I see silver linings in clouds and lights at the end of dark tunnels.
And yep, my glass is always half full.

So what?

Occasionally I stumble and my vision becomes skewed.
It is inside those times that I have the opportunity to experience the intense pain of heartbreak and disappointment.
I learn and grow, forgive and let go.

I have learned that exposing my salty, rusty edges is equally as important as showing the shiny, cheerful bits of my life.
And here at She is Three, I continue to unravel the layers of my entire being, as I share all of my story with you.

My photo above represents the tangible feeling of leaping from the crusty, harsh surfaces of coral rocks and stepping back into the smooth, cool waters of peace and harmony.

This is my choice.
I allow myself to become whole.

  1. You always inspire me to reach. Not to the stars. But to whom I will become. Spending the month of September with you would be bliss!
Thank you for your recent comment on my blog. I’m surprised at the response I am getting.

  2. i believe in silver linings and half full glasses too. your spirit is so beautiful, deb. i’m glad you’ve said ‘so what?’ and have carried on with your generous and loving self.
and i love your reflection in the water…

p.s. no need to count my comment towards the giveaway. i’m already in the class…and can’t wait!
    xo

  3. OMG! I have had this too! ‘unrealistic’ ‘head in the clouds’
Even the Life Coach who I got my certification with, said I was too Pollyanna-ish! I couldn’t believe it.
Early in life this kind of feedback and the negativity of those around me, made me try to reject my true nature but I think I made a pact with myself before I came here to be me 🙂 So here I am in all my Polly Anna glory. <3 <3 <3

  4. You are the first person I have *met* (for real one day soon!) that has inspired me to live more fully and in the moment. To dance like nobody is watching. To laugh my ass off. To be spontaneous. I am in awe of your love of life, your openness, your honesty, and your courage. I’m so happy to have you in my circle of kindreds, sweet Deb. You are simply divine. xo

I love that you live life with “unduly cheerful, optimistic, or favorable view of things”. There is so much negativity in this world that we need more people who just look for and find the good in things. I also like that you point out that there are times when even the most positive people get down, but if you use that as a learning experience you can grow so much more. Thank you!

A friend sent me to this site, and I was delighted to find a positively-focused, creativity-engaged, connection-seeking female in my age group. I’m stuck in my head at maybe 38, so my “real” age of 53 takes me awhile to remember. This 30-day choreography of all that is good–juicy play of many kinds–would be a fabulous backdrop for me working on an interactive book/stand-up/performance art project, while meeting cool peeps and stoking the creative fire. SO glad you are out there, in here!

    • Hi Deb.
      Thank you for your witness.
And being stuck at 38…SO WHAT?
      I think it’s fabulous!
      Enjoy all your moments.
and stop back by anytime…we’ll leave the light on for ya!

  7. I adore all the positivity you emit! You shine, dear Deb, and the world is a better place with your bright light in it. Thank you for being a sparkly lover of life who inspires us all. It is a joy to know you.
    Xoxo.
P.S. I’m so excited for Mish Mash!

  8. Everyday, every second is a choice. We are not just living our lives but creating them and attitude is everything!

  9. Oh, sweet Deb, I have never considered you Polly-Anna-ish. What you are is a magical elf who inspires people all over the place to live a fuller, more colorful life. I love you for this. Plus, you, my dear are Bad Ass. 🙂 Keep on rocking the rose-colored glasses, hon. Keep inspiring.

  10. Wow! Looks great. Can’t wait to check out it out in full.
Thanks for the chance to enter.

I love your playful, youthful spirt, Deb. Don’t change! {I know you won’t, but just had to say it.} xo, Barbara

  12. You’re positive, cheery disposition is what draws me to you and your words. You have a perspective on life that I simply adore. I long one day to be as comfortable and content in my life, the way you appear to be in yours. Your light and joy are a gift to this world and I for one am grateful you choose to share that part with us so freely.

  13. What a wonderful photo and a wonderful way to live your life.

  14. First of all, those are all the qualities I love about you, Deb! You are such a strong, free spirit, full of color and light and wonder – I want to be like you when I grow up! (If I ever grow up! I think that’s overrated, don’t you?) 😉

Second, I would LOVE to be entered in the giveaway for your course! I want to take it, and have planned to, but finances are a little rocky right now, so receiving it as a gift would be awesome! Count me in as hopeful!!

Thanks to Jennifer – and you – for this opportunity!

    Barbara

I can’t believe I stumbled across this today. As my 5 year college career in film comes to a close, I feel more lost and nervous than ever. I used to be known for my cheerful warm personality and often accused of living in my own
world, but lately I’ve found myself living in this harsh reality. I’ve been lost in the place where all I can see is the coldness, greed, and spitefulness in the world. I never believed the world I lived in was never an unrealistic one, it was a place of my happiness and source of enlightenment. Inside myself I hear the voice of the love that created and guides all of us through life. I commend you on reaching out. Never change who you are.

… I feel like I have been eaten up by the dark side of life, that there are no colors within me to paint a rainbow with, to make it different… Which is why your attitude reflected in your photos and writing is very much appreciated asit inspires and gives me hope for new colorful beginnings… I think a 30 day Mish Mash is what I need, I am just not entirely sure if I have and know how and what it takes to really make the most of it…

  17. i would love to mish mash with you! lovely photo deb…i choose rosy glasses too they are prettier anyways:)
    xoxo katy

loved the mish mash sneak peak video ~ looks fabulous!
    feel the same way …maybe it’s a Deb thing :-}
had a mixed media collage published in cloth paper scissors magazine that I called “she looked at life through rose coloured glasses” …’ once upon a time, there was a little girl who looked at the world with rose coloured, polka dot glasses on. it rained cats & (polka) dots in a garden of forget*me*dots’
first found you on flickr … when I spotted a photo of heart shaped rocks on a window ledge … an instant fave
thank you for the chance to win a spot in your up-coming e-course!

  22. Deb,
I knew when we met you in Round Top last year, wearing you painted boots, that you had a special outlook on life.
It is a pleasure to see, via blogs, what “young at heart” girls are doing.
My glass is always half full, and I love the vibes that come from such a positive attitude about life.
    Happy day!
    Pat

Thank you so very much for the giveaway, and that I won is certainly a lovely thing!

  24. me too! me too! I chose that path as well, and when I was younger, other people tried to shame me out of my land of unicorns and sunshine. I love the wisdom of aging that allows us to block out the haters. LOL
